Market Segments

inclusive design: start early, think creative, consult with experts.

Thinking about accessibility early in the planning and design process is one of the most effective (and least expensive) ways to create beautiful, highly usable built environments in the civic, commercial, education, hospitality, medical, and multi-family residential markets. Most design firms are certainly familiar with codes and regulations, but few have highly specialized accessibility professionals on staff.

Studio Pacifica fills that role when it comes to consulting on code compliance and regulations. It fills that role when it comes to showing how even a small design decision can have big ramifications for people with various physical limitations. And we’re happy to talk creative solutions – especially ones from the members of our team who use wheelchairs (or who have low vision) have discovered work best.

This proactive approach can save money and time down the road. Most importantly, we believe that when accessible design solutions are fully integrated and imperceptible, they serve to enhance the designer’s core concepts.
